Stainless steel pipes are typically specified by two parameters: Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) and Schedule (SCH). The NPS defines the diameter of the pipe, while the Schedule indicates the wall thickness.

• Small Bore Pipes:
• 1. NPS: 1/8″ to 2″
  2. Schedules: SCH 5, SCH 10, SCH 40, SCH 80
• Medium Bore Pipes:
  1. NPS: 2 1/2″ to 6″
  2. Schedules: SCH 5, SCH 10, SCH 40, SCH 80, SCH 160
• Large Bore Pipes:
  1. NPS: 8″ to 24″
  2. Schedules: SCH 5, SCH 10, SCH 20, SCH 40, SCH 80, SCH 120, SCH 160, SCH XXS

3. Wall Thickness:

The wall thickness of stainless steel pipes is crucial for determining their strength and suitability for various applications. It is indicated by the Schedule number, with higher Schedule numbers corresponding to thicker walls.

1. SCH 5: Light wall thickness for low-pressure applications
2. SCH 10: Medium wall thickness for moderate-pressure applications
3. SCH 40: Standard wall thickness for general-purpose use
4. SCH 80: Heavy wall thickness for high-pressure and high-temperature applications
5. SCH 160 and SCH XXS: Extra heavy wall thickness for the most demanding conditions
