AR235 Abrasion Resistant Steel Plate

AR235 Abrasion Resistant Steel Plate is a durable wear-resistant steel designed to provide improved resistance against abrasion, impact, and surface wear. With a nominal hardness of around 235 Brinell (BHN), AR235 steel offers better wear protection compared to standard structural steel while maintaining good weldability and fabrication properties.

AR235 plates are widely used in industries where materials experience constant friction, sliding, and mechanical wear. These plates help extend the service life of industrial equipment and reduce maintenance costs. Because of its balanced strength and hardness, AR235 steel is suitable for moderate wear environments where both toughness and durability are required.

Emirerri Steel supplies high-quality AR235 Abrasion Resistant Steel Plates that meet international quality standards and deliver reliable performance in demanding industrial applications.

Corrosion Resistance

AR235 Abrasion Resistant Steel Plates provide moderate resistance to atmospheric corrosion. However, they are primarily designed for abrasion resistance rather than corrosion protection.

For applications exposed to moisture, chemicals, or marine environments, protective coatings such as painting, galvanizing, or epoxy coating are recommended to enhance corrosion resistance.

Heat Resistance

AR235 steel plates perform well under moderate temperature conditions while maintaining their strength and wear resistance. However, continuous exposure to very high temperatures may reduce hardness and mechanical performance.

These plates are suitable for equipment exposed to frictional heat and moderate thermal conditions.

Heat Treatment

AR235 Abrasion Resistant Steel Plates are usually supplied in the as-rolled condition. Heat treatment processes such as normalizing, stress relieving, or quenching and tempering may be applied depending on the required mechanical properties.

Proper heat treatment helps maintain hardness and improve structural stability.

Welding

AR235 steel plates have good weldability using conventional welding methods.

Common welding techniques include:

  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG / GMAW)
  • Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)

Preheating may be required for thicker plates to avoid cracking and to ensure strong weld joints.

Fabrication

AR235 plates can be fabricated using common metalworking techniques including:

  • Plasma cutting
  • Laser cutting
  • Drilling
  • Bending and forming
  • Machining

Because of their hardness, proper cutting tools and machining practices are recommended for efficient fabrication.

Applications

  • Mining and quarry equipment
  • Dump truck bodies and liners
  • Conveyor systems
  • Agricultural equipment
  • Industrial chutes and hoppers
  • Construction machinery
  • Wear plates and liners
  • Bulk material handling equipment
