Corten Steel Sheets
Corten (Weathering) Steel Sheets
Corten Steel, also known as Weathering Steel, is a high-strength, low-alloy steel that develops a protective rust-like patina when exposed to atmospheric conditions. This oxidation process eliminates the need for painting, making Corten Steel ideal for structural applications exposed to harsh weather conditions. It is commonly used in architectural facades, bridges, shipping containers, and outdoor sculptures due to its corrosion-resistant properties and aesthetic appeal.
Corten Steel is available in two primary grades:
- Corten A (ASTM A242) – Suitable for architectural applications and lighter structures.
- Corten B (ASTM A588) – Used in heavier structural applications due to its superior mechanical properties.
