AR600 Steel

AR600 Abrasion Resistant Steel

AR600 Abrasion Resistant Steel Plate is an ultra-high hardness wear-resistant steel designed for applications exposed to severe abrasion, heavy impact, and extreme wear conditions. With a nominal hardness of approximately 600 Brinell (BHN), AR600 steel provides exceptional durability and significantly longer service life compared to standard wear-resistant steel grades.

These plates are commonly used in industries such as mining, construction, cement, and heavy material handling where equipment is subjected to constant friction from abrasive materials like rocks, sand, ore, and minerals. The superior hardness of AR600 steel minimizes surface wear and reduces maintenance and replacement costs.

Emirerri Steel supplies premium quality AR600 Abrasion Resistant Steel Plates manufactured to meet strict quality standards and designed for high-performance wear applications.

  • Custom Fabricated AR600 Components

Corrosion Resistance

AR600 steel plates offer moderate resistance to atmospheric corrosion. However, they are primarily designed for wear resistance rather than corrosion protection.

For applications in corrosive environments, protective coatings such as paint, epoxy coating, or galvanization are recommended to extend service life.

Heat Resistance

AR600 plates can tolerate moderate temperatures without significant reduction in mechanical properties. However, exposure to high temperatures above 250–300°C may reduce hardness and wear resistance.

For high-temperature environments, specialized heat-resistant steel grades may be required.

Heat Treatment

AR600 Abrasion Resistant Steel Plates are typically produced using quenching and tempering processes to achieve extremely high hardness and toughness.

This heat treatment enhances:

  • Wear resistance
  • Strength
  • Structural integrity

Improper heat treatment after manufacturing may reduce the hardness of the plate.

Welding

Due to its very high hardness, welding AR600 steel requires special precautions.

Recommended welding practices include:

  • Preheating the plate before welding
  • Using low-hydrogen electrodes
  • Controlling heat input
  • Post-weld stress relief if necessary

Common welding methods include SMAW, MIG, FCAW, and SAW.

Fabrication

Fabricating AR600 steel plates requires specialized tools due to their extreme hardness.

Common fabrication processes include:

  • Plasma cutting
  • Laser cutting
  • Waterjet cutting
  • Precision machining

Cold forming and bending should be performed carefully to avoid cracking.

Applications

  • Mining equipment and liners
  • Crusher liners
  • Bucket liners and excavator buckets
  • Chutes and hoppers
  • Cement plant equipment
  • Quarry and aggregate processing equipment
  • Heavy material handling systems
  • Recycling and shredding equipment
