ASTM A283 is a standard specification for low and intermediate tensile strength carbon steel plates used in structural applications. It covers four grades: A, B, C, and D, each with varying mechanical properties and chemical compositions.

- Grades: ASTM A283 steel plates come in grades A, B, C, and D. The grade determines the mechanical properties and suitability for specific applications.
- Strength: ASTM A283 steel plates are strong, with a yield strength of 65 ksi (380-550 MPa).
- Formability: ASTM A283 steel plates have a % elongation of 23-25%.
