Description
ASTM A1008 / A1008M
ASTM A1008 is a standard specification produced by ASTM International for cold-rolled, carbon, structural, and high-strength low-alloy with improved formability steel sheet. It’s widely used in applications like automotive components, appliances, and construction materials due to its versatility, strength, and formability.
Key Properties
- Smooth and clean surface finish due to cold rolling
- Excellent dimensional accuracy and tight thickness tolerance
- Good formability – suitable for bending, drawing, and stamping
- Available in a wide range of strength levels (CS to UHSS)
- Consistent mechanical and surface quality
- Good weldability for most grades
- Ideal for applications requiring surface appearance
- Not corrosion-resistant – usually coated or painted for protection
