Description
ASTM A366 Cold Rolled Steel
ASTM A366 is an older standard specification from ASTM International for cold-rolled carbon steel sheet of commercial quality, primarily used for applications requiring basic strength and good formability. It has been withdrawn and replaced by ASTM A1008, which is now the current standard for similar materials.
Key Features
- Type: Cold-Rolled Carbon Steel Sheet
- Equivalent: ASTM A1008 CS Type B
- Surface Finish: Smooth and clean
- Formability: Excellent for bending, stamping, and drawing
- Strength: Moderate yield and tensile strength
- Thickness Tolerance: Tight and consistent
- Application: Automotive panels, appliances, furniture, and general forming
- Weldability: Good
ASTM A366 Grades
- Commercial Steel (CS Type B) – For moderate forming applications
- Drawing Steel (DS) – Improved formability over CS
- Deep Drawing Steel (DDS) – For deep drawn parts
- Extra Deep Drawing Steel (EDDS) – Maximum formability
